Panic set in as they retraced their steps through a neon-lit winter wonderland. They encountered a group of carolers who had replaced all their lyrics with detailed descriptions of their hallucinations, and a rogue animatronic reindeer that seemed determined to lead them into the frozen woods. Just when Griffin thought the night was a total loss, he found Kim standing in the town square, watching a spectacular display of stop-motion style fireworks that pulsed with every color of the rainbow. Griffin had spent weeks preparing for the "Wonderful Binge." He had the playlist ready, the snacks staged, and a plan to propose to his girlfriend, Kim, amidst the peak of their holiday-induced revelry. But as the clock struck midnight and the siren blared to signal the start of the Binge, things immediately veered off-course. His best friends, Hags and Andrew, had arrived with a literal sled full of experimental festive "treats," including a glowing eggnog that smelled faintly of diesel and tinsel.
She wasn't angry that he’d lost the ring; she was laughing, holding a cup of that questionable eggnog and wearing a Santa hat that was three sizes too big. She pulled a matching ring box from her own pocket—she had been planning to propose to him too. Under the glow of the Binge Day lights, they didn't need a perfect plan or a sober ceremony. They just needed the chaos, the music, and each other. As the sun began to rise and the Binge window started to close, Griffin realized that despite the madness, it truly was a wonderful binge.
