The figure on the screen stepped into the frame. It was tall, wearing a suit that looked like it was made of wet charcoal. It didn't have a face, just a smooth surface where features should be. It walked toward the desk—toward where Elias was sitting—and leaned over his shoulder.

The file sat on the corner of the desktop, a generic grey icon labeled URE-088-MR.mp4. It had appeared after the last system update, tucked away in a temporary folder that shouldn’t have existed.
